The Peshawar Fellowship Program kicked off today with a lot of energy. The IT Minister of KP, Mr. Shahram Khan Tarakai, presided over the inauguration ceremony. 12 selected Fellows were present, along with their Government Partners (focal persons from various Govt departments who will be providing mentorship and support to the Fellows). Mr. Siddiqullah Chamkani, MD of the KP IT Board, gave an opening address, in which he explained the mission and motivation behind the Fellowship Program.
The ceremony concluded with some words from the IT Minister who thanked Code for Pakistan and the World Bank for partnering on the Fellowship Program. He emphasized civic hacking and this program as a great platform for promoting the talents of KP’s youth.
The Peshawar Fellowship Program affords a 6-month mentored fellowship to 12 Fellows to work on applications that they created during the Peshawar Civic Hackathon a month ago. It is run by the KP IT Board in partnership with Code for Pakistan and the World Bank, and its goal is to create innovation in public services and civic engagement amongst technically-inclined youth.
