After a very successful first and second batch, we have launched our 3rd batch of the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017. This time the Fellows would be following the tagline of the program “Explore, Innovate, Create and Improve” to develop effective solutions for the public services.

The 2017 Fellows

These 20 brilliant young professionals have been selected after a very rigorous process of interviews and technical tests where they had to fight for their positions from a pool of over 1,000 candidates.

Let us introduce them to you:

Mian Dawood Shah

Project Team: KPITB


Mian Dawood Shah was born in village Kangra, Charsadda. Dawood completed his degree in Computer Science from IBMS, Agriculture University, KPK in 2015 . He started his professional life while being a student, developing websites for his clients. In December 2014, Dawood started his own startup company called “DotCom Services”. He is an expert in front-end and back-end web development. His special interests include working in Php, HTML, Bootstrap, JavaScript and Ajax. He loves reading poetry, playing cards, taking care of his pets, travelling and listening to sufi music. Dawood is a Fellow in the KP Civic Fellowship Program 2017 and is working on the KPITB project to facilitate the startup ecosystem in KPK.

Bushra Mustafa

Project Team: KPITB


Bushra Mustafa belongs to Mardan, KPK. She has completed her Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. Bushra is also a poetess and has regularly contributed to Us Magazine, The News International and The Ancient Souls. One of her poems will soon be featured in a book by the Ancient Souls' platform. Bushra also serves as the Editor for Daastan, Pakistan's self-publishing platform. In her free time, she likes to read about Sufism and explore Rumi and Allama Iqbal’s poetry. Bushra is also interested in personality reading and psychological aspects of human beings. In addition, she enjoys hiking, cooking, embroidery, painting and photography. As a Fellow, she is currently working on KPITB’s crowdfunding platform.

Haq Nawaz

Project Team: KPITB


Haq Nawaz is a full stack developer graduated from University of Peshawar with 2 years experience using open source technology. His professional expertise include PHP, Laravel, Ajax etc. He has worked with different companies mostly belonging to the US. He is also experienced in integrating different APIs like google maps, facebook etc. He likes to talk with clients face to face to understand the requirements completely. In his free time, Haq Nawaz is working on a EventTribe like project which would help people connect on various events.

Sabahat Momina

Project Team: KPITB


Sabahat was born in Peshawar and completed her graduation in CS from University of Peshawar in 2016. In her 7th semester, she started to work as an internee in a software house, called Dotcom Services and completed her six months there as a Graphic Designer/Game Developer. In addition, she took interest in freelancing and started working for foreign clients as a Graphic Designer and Creative Writer. She is currently a Fellow in the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 and is working on KPITB’s crowdfunding platform. Apart from her work, she likes to watch movies and TV shows. She is fond of cooking and eating good food. She is particularly passionate about paleontology, archaeology and history. After attending a training camp held by a team of Model National Geographics in 2014, Sabahat has also taken up photography.

Kashif Ahmad

Project Team: KP Traffic


Kashif Ahmad was born in Charsadda, KPK. He started his journey towards success after standing in the list of NICT scholars from the Computer Science Department of UET, Peshawar in 2011. Kashif always had a strong interest in computers but it was his Computer Science BSc (Hons) degree that really set him up for being a professional Android App developer and an accomplished software architect. His role as technical architect provides him with opportunities to help citizens with their software development needs and get involved in the Android App development process. Kashif is working with the KP Traffic App team as an Android App developer under the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship program 2017. Kashif is also the co-founder of a service providing company, TechEase solutions. In his free time Kashif likes playing cricket and is addicted to video games.

Sana Firdous

Project Team: KP Traffic


Sana is an expert in user interface and experience design with proficient in Graphic Designing. Her coding skills include front end Android development, with a focus on interactive design. She loves bringing her imaginations to reality through designing. Due to her family’s military background, she was born in Kharian and raised in multiple cities. She believes in pushing her limits to reach new heights. Sana majored in Information Technology and is currently a Fellow in the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 working as an UX/UI Designer with the KP Traffic Police Department where she is designing the interface of the Traffic Management System. In her free time she practices fashion designing and baking. Being fond of sports, she participated in many sports events during her school and college days. She was also declared the Best Organizer by her college for arranging get together events.

Fazli Mola Jan

Project Team: KP Traffic


Fazli belongs to Nowshera, KPK. He has been very passionate about computer programming since his time in school. He graduated from University of Malakand, with a degree in software engineering and won a gold medal for holding the first position in the university. Fazli is an expert Android developer and has worked on a number of different projects including academic and professional projects. His projects include "Prayer Timing Auto Silencer” (university project), "My Ufone” (ufone official app), "TrackLive SpotOn" and "WhereWorks", among others. He is passionate about providing high quality, unique products to his clients and enjoys working with professionals. Fazli is a Fellow in the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 and is currently working as an Android developer with the KPK Police for the Traffic Management System in Peshawar. Fazli is also a social worker and a part time blogger. He is the co-founder and president of the Social Welfare Committee and the National Youth Assembly. He is also a member of the International Association of Engineers. Moreover, Fazli has participated in many global competitions and was awarded 2nd position in the Pakathon Global 2014.

Nazneen Shafiq

Project Team: KP Traffic


Nazneen is a native of Peshawar city and an IT graduate from University of Peshawar. Her professional career started with IT Park Deans, Peshawar as a Web Developer (full stack). More recently, she worked with the Directorate of IT. She is passionate about her work and believes in providing high quality products to her clients. Currently, she is a Fellow in the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 and is working as a Web Developer on the Traffic Management System, Peshawar for the KP Traffic Department. When she is free, Nazneen likes to spend time with her family and friends. She is a freelancer who has achieved exceptional feedback from her clients. She keeps herself updated with the latest frameworks and latest technologies. She is a good listener and likes to solve others problems. Nazneen is also very fond of creating handicrafts.

Aizaz Ahmad

Project Team: KP Tourism


Aizaz Ahmad was born in Peshawar and holds a degree from University of Engineering and Technology (UET). He has been passionate about creative endeavors from a very young age, with a focus on programming and designing. Aizaz is an expert in user interface and experience design and is working towards developing innovative and creative computer/mobile applications with brilliant UX and UI design. He is well rounded in Photoshop, Illustrator, Muse, Rapid Prototyping, InVision, XD, Mockflow, Framer, Pixate, JustInMind, Axure and Visual design. Aizaz is a freelancer and has worked on a number of projects for both local and international clients. He has also worked on Web/Android App development and possesses good knowledge of programming. Aizaz believes that a single man can bring change and make the world a better place to live. He feels that many problems can be resolved through technology and hopes to make the experience more easy and productive for the users. He is currently working as a UI/UX designer with the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017, focused on improving the online experience of Travel and Tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He is a tech enthusiast, computer geek and spends his free time searching for new applications, technologies and inventions. In his rare spare time, he takes on the role of an amateur photographer. He likes to watch movies and travel with his friends.

Zartasha Naeem Khan

Project Team: KP Tourism


Zartasha Naeem graduated from the Department of Computer Systems Engineering, UET Peshawar. She has been working as a full stack developer and has developed web based apps on restful APIs using Slim Framework. She has also been working on CMSs like Drupal and WordPress. As a Fellow in the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017, Zartasha is working with the KP Tourism Department as a front-end developer to digitize maps and develop virtual tours.

Hilal Jadoon

Project Team: KP Tourism


Hilal Ahmed has completed his Bachelors in Computer Science from Agriculture University, Peshawar and is a full stack developer. He was selected as a web developer for the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 and is currently working with the KP Tourism Department to develop virtual tours and custom interactive maps for tourists.

Fasih Ul Hassan

Project Team: KP Tourism


Fasih ul hassan was born in Swabi, KPK and is a graduate from University of Peshawar. He has also studied DAE Electrical from Swabi Technical College and started his career as an Electrical Supervisor in UAE. He has worked with an engineering consultancy firm, where he established himself as a Graphic Designer, 3D Modeler/Animator and VFX Maker, using programs like Autocad, Sketchup, Maya, 3D Max, Blender, After Effects, Coral Draw and HitFilm pro. Fasih ul Hassan is a Fellow in the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 and is working with the Tourism Department to develop virtual tours and digital mapping. In his free time he loves to explore new places and goes hunting and fishing.He is a key player in the football and cricket team of his village and is also a member of the Village Welfare Society with the goal of helping others.

Usman Jalal

Project Team: WSSP


Usman Jalal Kakakhail hails from Nowshera and graduated with a degree in Economics from Islamia College University, Peshawar. With an academic background in Economics and a digital mindset, he loves to engage in discussions ranging from artificial intelligence to cinematic shots. He is passionate about Blackmagic Design cameras, photography and cinematography. He envisions a society in which he sets the foundations for ethical entertainment content. His own startup is named Ethical Bitz. He also has a short film project in the pipeline. With 3 years of experience in using designing tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Usman creates 2D animations. While mostly working as a freelancer, he has also had the opportunity to work with different local and global startups and businesses as a Graphic Designer. Currently he is a Fellow in the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 and is working as a UI / UX Designer with Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP). He will be designing the user experience and user interface for the web and mobile community app.

Maria Ali

Project Team: WSSP


Maria Ali belongs to Hasan Khel F.R, Peshawar. She has completed her MS in Information Technology from Agriculture University, Peshawar and has a keen interest in observing human behavior and its response to new technologies. Her hobbies include reading books related to human nature. She also writes about her feelings in her diary which she regularly publishes in the form of booklets. She is passionate about creating user friendly websites and actively seeks out new technologies to stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements. Currently, Maria is a Fellow in the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 and is working as a front-end web developer with Water Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP). She has three years of experience in front-end development and has complete command on html, html5, CSS3, Bootsrap and JavaScript.

TehseenUllah

Project Team: WSSP


Tehseen hails from Peshawar, KPK and is a Software Engineer who graduated from IMSciences in 2014. His final year project was the creation of a school management and computerization system, which is available on www.school.martialtechnologies.com. He has worked as an internee at the KP IT Board and has developed an e-commerce website for dealskpk.com, now www.bera.pk. Tehseen has also been working remotely as a full stack developer at www.iplex.co, Rawalpindi. Recently Tehseen joined the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 as a full Stack Developer and is working on web API, database and backend implementation for Water Sanitation and Services Peshawar (WSSP).

FazalUllah

Project Team: WSSP


Fazal Ullah belongs to Hangu, KPK. He is a Software Engineer and graduated from UET, Peshawar in 2016. His FYP was a real estate application using the Android platform; it is available on Google Play Store with the name of “Apna Ghar.” Fazal has worked as an internee at the Directorate of IT and developed the “KDA Citizen Portal” App for the Kohat Government. Recently, he joined the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017 as a mobile application developer and is working on an Android application for Water Sanitation and Services Peshawar (WSSP). He is also a freelancer, developing Android and iOS applications. Fazal consumes his free time on social media or playing video games to keep his mind fresh.

Nazim ud Din

Project Team: Directorate of Industries and Commerce


Nazim-ud-Din was born in Peshawar and is a UET graduate in Computer Systems Engineering. He chose software development as his career and has worked as a Systems Analyst and Programmer in different public and private organizations across Peshawar. He has also worked with the CM Secretariat, Home & Tribal Affairs Department and the KP Police Department. Currently, he is working on the FIRMS project as part of the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017. Besides software development, Nazim is interested in politics and current affairs. In his free time he reads columns, articles and books on the history of Pakistan. Nazim loves to work on his ideas and is planning to develop an online political academy to give birth to new leaders. He has developed a prototype, pakpolitics.pk, and is also planning to develop a tourism related web app in the near future. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his family and friends and likes to watch movies.

Muhammad Ishaq

Project Team: Directorate of Industries and Commerce


Muhammad Ishaq belongs to Hangu and completed his degree in Electronics Engineering from University of Peshawar in 2014. He has always taken a keen interest in communications and networking and worked on several communication and media projects during his university years. He is certified by CISCO and is on his way to acquire more certifications in networking. Ishaq started his career with PTCL and then joined the Directorate of Information Technology as a Network Engineer. He deployed the network for the KDA office in Kohat. Currently he is working as a Network Engineer on the FIRMS Project as part of the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017. In his free time he plays games and reads history books.

Mian Sahib Jan

Mian Sahib Jan was born in Swat and has a degree in Computer Science from UOA IBMS. He started his career with IT-Intelligence in 2014 as an asp.net developer. Later, he joined Precise Technology as a software engineer. He has technical expertise in the field of programming in SQL Server, Asp.net MVC, Asp.net web forms, Linq to Sql, Entity Framework, Web API, VB.Net and C# Dot net. Mian Sahib Jan is currently working as a full stack developer on the FIRMS Project as part of the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017. In his free time he enjoys playing videogames, watching movies, spending time with his friends, travelling, hiking and reading.

Usman Ali Khan

Project Team: Directorate of Industries and Commerce


Usman Ali Khan was born in Abbottabad and is currently completing his MS in Computer Science from COMSATS Abbottabad Campus. He is a Graphic Designer and started his Professional Career in 2014 after his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Hazara University, and join KP IT Board as an internee. Later, he was promoted to the position of Senior CG Artist. He also pay his duties as a Lecturer in Rising Stars Public School and College, Abbottabad. Currently he is working as a Graphic Designer on the FIRMS Project as part of the KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program 2017. Usman is very talented and loves to accept challenging situations. In his free time he loves to play Military games like Project IGI and Counter Strike. Usman is also Martial Arts (Kung-Fu) Player and won several Medals and Awards including one GOLD-Medal in National Tournament, in 2011. He is also fond of watching Cricket and loves to hike and travel with his friends to Northern Areas of Pakistan.

Ebtihaj

Program Manager


Ebtihaj was part of the first batch of KP Civic Innovation Fellowship Program where he founded Messiah and has since then been working on becoming an entrepreneur. His natural penchant for technology and innovation came very early and he kept on honing his skills throughout his High School and Bachelors. He developed an aptitude for civic innovation and open data and is also looking into digital services now. Besides being a sports enthusiast and football fanatic, he enjoys reading technology related blogs and explores the startups world.

Sohail

Associate Program Manager


Sohail was a CfP Fellow in the 2015-2016 Fellowship cycle and was the team lead for the KP Traffic Police project. Sohail has previously worked with the Punjab Information Technology Board's Incubation Center, Plan 9. He has also interned with the KP IT Board. Sohail has an academic background in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Peshawar and is experienced in Agile and Scrum methodology, programming frameworks, languages and technologies. Sohail is particularly passionate about strengthening start ups and promoting open data initiatives.
