CodeAcross is a weekend of civic hacking events hosted by civic innovation groups in the Code for America network around the world. These events coincide with International Open Data Day, and the goal of CodeAcross is to activate the civic hacking network and inspire residents everywhere around the world to get actively involved in their community.
This year’s CodeAcross by Code for Pakistan is organized in collaboration with the Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) at the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) in Islamabad; NUST is Pakistan’s #1 Engineering & Technology University in academic programs and research.
The NUST Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) organizes a program called Finding Innovative & Creative Solutions for Society (FICS). FICS is an initiative aimed at encouraging and facilitating Social Entrepreneurship; it encourages students to develop technology-based solutions to social problems around them.
The aim of this event is to create a mechanism that produces viable solutions for social / community development in different domains, and with the help of stakeholders including Industry, commercialize the best projects. So if you are an urbanists, civic hackers, government staff, developers, designers, community organizers, or anyone with the passion to make their city better, you are welcome!
