About Us

Code for Pakistan (CfP) is a civic innovation platform made up of a passionate community of talented professionals and students in Pakistan and the US, driven by a strong belief in civic innovation and social impact that can move Pakistan forward in measurable and meaningful ways. Code for Pakistan has successfully implemented 7 cycles of its flagship Civic Innovation Fellowship Program. In addition, we are currently running the second cycle of a Women’s Civic Digital Internship Program as well as several other projects all over Pakistan. Code for Pakistan is a nonprofit registered in Pakistan and the US, and it is an official partner and active member of the international Code for All network.

Description of Role

This is a high energy role to participate in CfP’s critical Communications function. The ideal candidate is an organized DOER – brilliant, fearless, and a passionate professional who is uncompromising in his or her pursuit of building a world-class function that will positively affect the lives of Pakistanis every day.

To be successful as a Communications Associate, you should be able to contribute to the development of strategies that will increase engagement across all social media channels and the website. The Communications Associate will support the communications teams to create visual content, draft and post their social media updates and website content edits on a daily and weekly basis (e.g., updating the website with press releases, sharing advocacy priorities on social media, etc.). The Communications Associate will also support with website edits that can optimize our digital engagement and performance, including adding content and SEO tags, editing headlines, and accessibility-informed changes (e.g., photo captions, alternative text, etc.). You will also help us define the content calendar to align with our campaign and project timelines.

The Communications Associate will play a crucial role in developing and executing marketing campaigns, managing our social media presence, and producing high-quality visual content. This position requires a blend of creativity, technical proficiency, and a keen understanding of digital marketing trends.

Responsibilities

As the Communications Associate, you will be:

  • Shooting, editing and creating visual content 
  • Conducting in-depth research on industry-related topics in order to develop original content.
  • Developing content for blogs, articles, product descriptions, social media, and the company website.
  • Developing content for advertising campaigns.
  • Proofreading content for errors and inconsistencies.
  • Editing and polishing existing content to improve readability.
  • Conducting keyword research and using SEO best practices to increase traffic to the company website.
  • Creating compelling headlines and body copy that will capture the attention of the target audience.
  • Identifying customers’ needs and recommending new content to address gaps in the company's current content.
  • Develop and implement innovative marketing campaigns that align with our organization’s objectives and increase engagement.
  • Manage day-to-day handling of all social media channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, adapting content to suit different channels.
  • Create, edit, and share engaging content daily (e.g., original text, photos, videos, and news).
  • Monitor, track, and report on feedback and analytics.
  • Organize and participate in events to build community and boost brand awareness.
  • Stay up-to-date with digital technology trends.

Core Competencies

  • Proven experience as a Communications Associate, Social Media Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms including metrics and audience engagement strategies.
  • Ability to capture, shoot, and edit photos and videos, including proficiency with editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.
  • Experience in creating and leading marketing campaigns that effectively communicate brand messages and achieve campaign objectives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to generate creative ideas and translate them into practical campaign strategies.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Good grasp with editing software(s) and visual storytelling 
  • Hands-on experience in content management (using a CMS; knowledge of CRM a plus.)
  • Excellent copywriting skills.
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video).
  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics.
  • An excellent handle on social media content handling, content creation and trends
  • Video creation and editing experience

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field.
