KP Fellowship's 8th Cycle

The KP Government Innovation Fellowship continues to empower the next generation of leaders and innovators through its ongoing cycles. Each cohort of the KP Government Innovation Fellowship brings together a diverse group of Fellows from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), all united in their commitment to tackling real-world challenges through civic tech. For the 8th cycle, 20 innovative Fellows have joined from various regions of KP, bringing together developers, designers, and researchers. These Fellows will collaborate closely with government departments to address pressing issues in civic tech, GovTech, and citizen engagement.

Guided by principles of Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design, and Agile best practices, the Fellows will co-create impactful digital solutions in collaboration with government partners and members of local communities & citizens, ensuring the solutions align with their needs and priorities.

Some of the projects the Fellows are working on under the 8th cycle include:

  • Supporting Farmers with Pest & Disease Detection
In partnership with the Agriculture Research Department, the Fellows are developing a mobile app that helps farmers identify crop diseases and pest outbreaks. This tool will provide instant remedies, boosting agricultural yields across KP.
  • Digitizing Water Billing for Better Revenue Collection
Fellows are working with the Irrigation Department to streamline the Abiana billing system (farm-water usage billing), making it easier for farmers to pay their water bills while enhancing transparency and efficiency.
  • Efficient NGO Management through Digital Registration
In collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, Fellows are digitizing the registration and renewal process for over 1,400 NGOs in KP, ensuring accurate and accessible records for effective management.
  • Launching Government GPT for Public Information
Fellows are developing an AI-powered assistant to provide clear, accessible answers to public and government queries on KP’s rules and services, simplifying access to critical information.
  • Detecting Fake News for Public Safety
Leveraging AI, this project monitors social media to identify misinformation and potential threats, enabling quick responses to protect public safety. The tool includes support for Urdu-English translation and Pashto, ensuring regional relevance.
