On a blazing hot summer day in 2023 in Peshawar, I was both humbled and blown away as I witnessed 47 women interns who had traveled far and wide across the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) - some undertaking journeys of 2 days with their fathers or mothers - to take the stage at the KP IT Board and present what they had learned and created during the KP Women’s Civic Digital Internship Program. In that moment, I viscerally understood the impact of the Code for Pakistan team, programs, and mentors on the lives of actual people.
Just days prior, we had celebrated a big milestone: Code for Pakistan’s 10th anniversary. And a few weeks later, we launched a new Fellowship Program in partnership with the Gilgit-Baltistan government that has, among other things, unlocked the potential of Volunteer Tourism in Pakistan.
Seeing this kind of real impact makes me grateful and proud of the Code for Pakistan team and all our collaborators who work with passion and optimism to help make Pakistan a better place for all of us. It takes a village.
Thank you for being a part of ours.
