Key Responsibilities
As our Communications Manager, you’ll lead efforts to craft and share compelling stories that highlight CfP’s impact, engage key stakeholders, and inspire action. Your primary tasks will include:
- Craft & Elevate Stories: Envision and create new avenues to tell human stories of the beneficiaries of CfP’s work through digital platforms, press, events, and campaigns.
- Engage Audiences: Develop strategies to connect with government changemakers, civic innovators, donors, and the broader community.
- Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets to amplify CfP’s work nationally and internationally.
- Content Leadership: Oversee messaging across all channels, including social media, newsletters, reports, press releases, podcasts, and more.
- Reports & Impact: Lead the creation of quarterly and annual reports for donors, ensuring clear, inspiring, and data-driven communications.
- Internal Alignment: Guide team members on tone, storytelling, and external communications, ensuring a consistent CfP voice.
- Strategic Direction: Shape editorial calendars, campaigns, and creative content that position CfP as a thought leader in civic innovation.
- Measure & Improve: Track data and insights to evaluate communications effectiveness, adjusting strategies for greater impact.
- Coach & Inspire: Support the CfP team in telling their own civic stories and strengthen collective storytelling capacity.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree in English, Journalism, Communications, (Digital) Marketing, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in communications, storytelling, or brand management (preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization).
- Proven experience creating impactful campaigns across print, digital, audio, and video.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with an eye for design and storytelling fundamentals.
- Familiarity with local and international media landscapes.
- Experience managing people, teams, or cross-functional projects.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset — you’re resourceful, collaborative, and get things done without needing reminders.
- A passion for civic innovation and a strong interest in leveraging communications for social impact.
