Creating opportunities for women in underserved areas of KP through technology and innovation

The KP Women Civic Digital Internship is a six-month remote program for women graduates, in collaboration with the KP IT Board, offering tech skills and hands-on experience in Engineering, IT, and Software Development. Interns work on digital solutions to improve public service and citizen engagement. Through self-paced learning, online mentorship, and real-world projects with KP Government teams, they gain practical skills and contribute to impactful civic tech projects, preparing them for better workforce opportunities.

The KP Women Civic Digital Internship offers a unique opportunity for women from remote and under-served areas of KP to advance their careers in tech. 

Interns receive monthly stipends, personalized one-on-one mentorship, and exclusive speaker sessions with top industry experts. 

They gain hands-on experience by working alongside Fellows on impactful Civic Tech and GovTech projects, while staying informed on the latest industry trends in an evolving tech space. 

With tailored career counseling and a job fair to connect with potential employers, the program aims to create new opportunities and establish meaningful, lasting careers in tech.

Girl Power

Women interns accepted into the program get an opportunity to work on citizen-facing digital services to improve citizen engagement, automate government processes, and create innovation in public service delivery. These digital services help solve problems in various public domains, such as economic development, healthcare, open data, citizen engagement, transportation, education, etc.

The internship program also offers blended learning, tailored mentorship and career counselling from top industry professionals. Interns get the opportunity to improve their technical, soft and leadership skills within the six month internship program.

Learning tracks offered within the curriculum include:

  • Data Sciences and Machine Learning
  • Technical Product Management

In addition to learning the Interns also get the opportunity to put those learning to practical use by providing support to the Govt Innovation Fellowship teams working on digital govt projects.

The next cycle of KP Women Civic Internship will commence in November 2024
