Fellows

Welcome to the third edition of A Generation of Doers, where we spotlight the changemakers shaping Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) through the KP Government Innovation Fellowship Program. Since 2014, Code for Pakistan and the KP IT Board have collaborated to drive meaningful change in public service delivery across the province.

The Fellowship Program unites a diverse group of individuals who combine civic engagement with technological expertise. Together, these Fellows tackle KP’s most pressing challenges—improving healthcare systems, digitizing public services, and creating transformative solutions that benefit thousands of communities.

This program exemplifies our commitment to harnessing technology for social impact. By bringing together dedicated public servants and innovative technologists, we are building a brighter, more connected future for KP's communities.

What motivates you to take on community projects, and can you share a moment that shaped your commitment?

Mahnoor:
My drive to take on community projects stems from a deep desire to make technology inclusive and accessible. A pivotal moment for me was working on a project to simplify government forms for rural communities. Seeing how a simple design adjustment reduced confusion and improved accessibility was eye-opening and rewarding. This reinforced my belief in the power of thoughtful design. With the E-Abyana System, I’m motivated to create interfaces that empower farmers, helping them manage billing and payments with ease.

Fahad:
My motivation stems from a belief that technology should make life easier for everyone. A turning point for me was witnessing a family member struggle with outdated systems for bill payments. That experience ignited my passion for developing user-friendly solutions. Through the E-Abyana project, I aim to empower farmers with tools like real-time payment updates and SMS notifications, ensuring greater efficiency and convenience.

Munnawar:
What drives me is the belief that technology can be a powerful tool for positive change. One moment that shaped my commitment was seeing the impact of a civic tech project that enabled citizens to report local issues more effectively. Witnessing how simple technology could improve lives strengthened my resolve to develop solutions that address real needs and foster civic engagement.

What changes do you hope to see in your community, and how can better services make a difference?

Mahnoor:
I envision a community where public systems prioritize user needs, making services accessible and efficient for everyone. Platforms like the E-Abyana System can set a precedent for improving engagement and fostering trust in public services. Thoughtfully designed services not only empower individuals but also bridge gaps between citizens and institutions, driving sustainable growth.

Fahad:
I hope for a community where technology seamlessly connects citizens with services. The E-Abyana System exemplifies this vision, introducing tools like digital payment tracking and SMS notifications to simplify essential processes. Better services can eliminate obstacles, enabling individuals to focus on their livelihoods and fostering growth across the community.

Munnawar:
I dream of a community where citizens have equitable access to essential services and feel more connected to governance. Improved services foster trust, promote transparency, and empower citizens to contribute to long-term development. In my community, better services can transform frustration into opportunity, creating a foundation for growth and civic participation.
