Sheba and I met at a San Francisco Bay Area event to brainstorm ways to give back to Pakistan. Her passion for change and action was inspiring and when she shared her vision for CfP with me, I was hooked!
As the Director of Organizational Strategy at CfP, I wear many hats. I’ve organized multiple hackathons and online apps challenges, built up a community of volunteers, worked on education and open data advocacy initiatives and so much more.
My work with CfP has challenged me to find new and creative solutions to everyday problems using civic tech. Additionally, in this role, I’ve had the opportunity to work on issues close to my heart such as improvements and access to education and women’s empowerment. I have also had the opportunity to work with an inspirational group of incredibly talented people and have made some friends for life!
Fast forward three and half years later after that first email and CfP has grown from a small group of volunteers to a community that is 75+ strong. This group is made up of volunteers, employees, current and past fellows, all driven by their passion to improve the quality of life for all individuals in Pakistan. The results of CfP’s pioneering work in civic tech speaks to the power of a determined community when it comes together. I look forward to what we will accomplish in the future!
Average people and the average community can change the world. You can do it just based on common sense, determination, persistence and patience.
