The KP Women Civic Internship Program is a 6-month internship designed to up-skill women fresh graduates of KP with technology skills, provide practical hands-on work experience and prepare them for exploring a career in Engineering, IT and Software Development.
The program was started on October 20th, 2021. For the first cohort 9 women Interns were selected from three districts of KP namely district Bajaur, Mohmand and Charsadda.
The Internship Program started with a 5-day training Bootcamp organized for the newly inducted Women Interns. The training Bootcamp was attended virtually by the Interns on Google Meet. The training Bootcamp included different sessions and training for the Interns’ technical and soft skills development.
In the training bootcamp the Interns learned about Civic Tech and GovTech, learned about Agile Project Management, Wireframing and Prototyping Techniques and Design Thinking Methodologies, they also learned about Entrepreneurship and Digital Marketing and Communications.
The Internship Program offers five learning tracks which the Interns can choose from to build their expertise. The learning tracks offered include Front End Development, Mobile Application Development, , Software Quality Assurance and Testing, Data Science and Machine Learning and UX/UI and Graphic Designing. Mentors with different skill sets have been assigned to the Interns who assist the Interns with their technical skills development and guiding them for their chosen skill sets. The mentors assign tasks and conduct weekly calls for progress evaluation.
In addition to the offered learning tracks and mentorship, the program also offers exposure and hands on experience to the Interns to work closely with the KP Fellows on different government department projects.
